    Aims & Scope

    Aims

    The Journal of East-Asian Urban History (JEUH) is the organ of the East-Asian Society for Urban History, which was founded on June 23, 2018 by The Korean Society for Urban History(Korea), Society of Urban and Territorial History (Japan), and The Shanghai Association of History (China). In addition to the papers on cities in East Asia, Urban History Researchers in East Asia will be able to submit papers that try to take an independent view of cities.

    hapter I: General Provisions

    Article 1 (Name)The guidelines shall be called as Guidelines for Manuscript Submission of 『Journal of East-Asian Urban History』 (JEUH hereafter).

    Article 2 (Purpose)The Guidelines aim to provide all the necessary and relevant rules on manuscript submission to the JEUH of the East-Asian Society for Urban History (EASUH hereafter).

    Chapter II: Article Submission

    Article 3(Contents of Manuscript) The papers on cities in East Asia, Urban History Researchers in East Asia will be able to submit papers that try to take an independent view of cities.

    Article 4 (Format of the Manuscript)1. Writing the manuscript

    • (1) Length of the manuscript: Manuscript should be prepared with the MS Word 2000(or higher) using A4–size paper setting. Length of the manuscript may not exceed 20 pages.
    • (2) Composition of manuscript: Manuscript in English may be composed of title, author names & their affiliation, abstract, main text.
    • (3) If manuscript is co-authored, the First author, Corresponding author, and Co-author, if any, are to be distinguished. In order to handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication afterwards, ‘the Corresponding author’ needs to provide her or his author name & e-mail address at the bottom of the first page of manuscript.
      Ex) Corresponding Author: Hong, Kil-Dong(gdhong@easuh.org)
    • (4) Abstract: Abstract may include research purpose, methods, results and conclusions, providing an independent introduction to the research, within 200 words, located right after author’s name.
    • (5) Five key words are to be presented below abstract in English.
    • (6) When reconstructing a master’s thesis or a doctoral dissertation, its author should state the following at the bottom of the first page, “This article modified or supplemented the author's master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation.” In this case, the thesis or dissertation author should be the First author.
    • (7) Authors should acknowledge any grants received and their related institution as a footnote on the first page of the manuscript.
    • (8) Author may provide his or her name, affiliation, mailing address, telephone number and email address in the last page of manuscript.

    2. Structure of manuscript

    • (1) The Subheadings should be numbered in the following order : I, 1, 1), (1) ①
    • (2) The left and right should be 4.2cm: the top margin 5cm, bottom margin 5.2cm: the top header, 4.2cm; the bottom header, 1cm. The line spacing of the title, the main text, and the reference list should be set to 14.5-point, while that of the abstract should be set to 12.5-point, and footnotes should be set to 10-point. The main text should be in 10-point Time New Roman font and the letter spacing should be 100% in 0.1-point narrow spacing.

    3. Proper Style: Manuscript needs to be in proper style, keeping 'the Guidelines for manuscript submission' and 'the Specification for In-text Citation and Reference List' in terms of sequence, citation, footnote, table, figure, and reference.

    Article 5 (Manuscript Submission, Review Process and Publication)1. Manuscript Submission: In principle, submission can be done by our online system(https://easuh.org/submit).
    2. Review Process and Review Outcome: Review is being done by three step processes with a blind system where information regarding review is not disclosed.

    • (1) Reviewer appointment: Editorial Board appoints reviewers after initial screening of manuscript submitted by its subject area and structure through our guideline.
    • (2) Review: Three reviewers, appointed by the Editorial Board, conduct review in detail.
    • (3) Review result: Manuscript submitted and reviewed are evaluated as ‘Accepted’, ‘Accepted with Minor Revision’, ‘Re-Review after Major Revision’, or ‘Rejected’. ‘Accepted’ manuscript may be revised at its author's own discretion. And submitters should return their revised manuscript as reviewed within due date specified by the Editorial Board. Unless otherwise excused, final draft should be published within one year after its submission to the Editorial Board or be subject to resubmission process.
    • (4) Publication order: Dates of article receipt determine order of publication in principle but with possibility of a little adjustment for area balance in the editorial board.

    3. 『Journal of East-Asian Urban history』 is issued twice a year.
    -June 30. Application deadline date is March 31.
    -December 31. Application deadline date is September 30.

    Article 6 (Copyright) Copyright of the article published in the JEUH. As such, all the rights, interests, copyright and digital copyright are transferred to the JEUH. Copyright Agreement

    Article 7 (Research Ethics)1. Submitters' article should be creative and not violating copyright given to other articles published. 2. Submitters should have de facto and intellectually contributed to the article, taking responsibility of its contents. 3. Agreement of experimentee: Articles, based upon human experiment or survey, should obtain prior approval of the experimentee after providing sufficient explanation to them in advance, subject to the rule given by the authors' IRB (Institutional Review Board of author’s institute). 4. Authors should obey the Code of Research Ethics of the IERGI including the above mentioned.

    Article 8 (Others)1. Following the general alphabet rules, unless otherwise specified, naming of authors in English needs to be written with the last name first and the given name next order with a comma between two names everywhere necessary in the article (ex: Hong, Kil-Dong). 2. The Editorial Board keeps right to decide the other things not specified in this guideline.
